Audiobook News

and next novel updates

Hey folks!

It’s time for the next update! It’s been a fun summer so far and I have also been busy at work. So, let’s dive in.

Table of Contents

Book Updates

Let’s just talk about the biggest update right now. I have my first audiobook!!!

After working with an amazing narrator (Anne Mason), we have finished the production of The Rings of Flight (the first book of The Curiosity Collection).

The book is currently in review over at Amazon to be uploaded to Audible and Apple. That could take about another seven days from when this newsletter is sent out. However, don’t fear, there is another way to listen to the audiobook. I have spent the past couple of weeks creating a Patreon account and it can also be bought and downloaded from this link. I will talk more about Patreon in a bit.

Narrator: Anne Mason

Length: 2 Hours 49 Minutes

Next The Curriosity Collection Story

As usual, I am currently in the process of a few other books, but one of those is an attempt at a bit spookier of a story. Small spoiler, it is revolved around clowns. The goal is to have it out before Halloween. “Goal” being the key word. I’m about a third of the way through the first draft with expectation to be done within the next two weeks.

Young Adult Video Game Series

I am still currently working on this one. It seems to be taking longer, but for good reason. As I was reading through the first couple drafts, I realized I need to create a larger universe and add some more exciting chapters. Also, as it is a litrpg, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t falling into the Dungeon Crawler Carl knockoff trap. I need to make sure it has my own voice and fun world that is as unique as possible. It is currently going from about 60,000 words to 80,000.

Patreon

As I said, I decided to finally get off my butt and create a Patreon account. This wasn’t for the usual use of Patreon to have subscribers paying a monthly fee (though I may do that down the road). No, this actually came from me wanting and trying to have more control over my work and making sure I was using other things besides the big tech companies that are the standard in eBook distribution (Talking about the Zon and Apple).

It was more difficult that I expected to find a solution for direct sales. Sure, there are things such as Shopify, Clover, Paypal, and so many others. But the back end tax handling is kind of a mess and would often require either really high subscription fees, or adding another software to handle the taxes.

Then there are other places such as Etsy and Gumroad, which both handle taxes. However, I am still avoiding Etsy due to them promoting ICE merch on their site (F*ck ICE), and Gumroad doesn’t have the greatest reviews. With all of my research, I stumbled upon an article that stated Patreon has the ability to create single buy posts, avoiding the subscription fee for the reader, while also handling taxes. Their cut is low, and their payment processing is low. Not to mention I have full control of my work, the price, and better insights. Seriously, Amazon is kind of the worst when it comes to these things.

So, if you are interested, I have setup many different posts and collections on Patreon. Take a look. You can grab the entire collection (all ebooks and Audiobook) for only $16!!!

Life Updates

My partner and I are currently out in Wyoming for the summer. Spending about six weeks out here and having a great time! Days filled with lots of hiking, baked goods, sunshine, and amazing time with the family. Oh, and lots of World Cup (which is a bit of a mess this year). My team, Croatia, sadly didn’t make it :(

After about a two month break from knitting, I also decided to pick that back up. I think my wrists just needed a break from making so many socks. Plus, I had some birthdays to make socks for.

I think that’s all I have form now. Talk soon!

Also, if you haven’t had a chance to pick up any of my books, here is a quick link:
