What I Am Working On ✍️

We have updates on A Roll of the Dice, my YA book, as well as another Middle-Grade book. Let’s dive in.

The Curiosity Collection: A Roll of the Dice

You read it right! This Monday, May 11th, is the eBook release for A Roll of the Dice! It is available for pre-order on Amazon and through most other platforms. It is still uploading through Hoopla and cloudLibrary. I have it set at $0.99 for the time being. So, if you are a fan of eBooks, go grab your copy.

List of current platforms available + Amazon.

As for the paperback edition, I am still waiting on the cover art for the back of the book. Once that is sent to me (any day now), I will set it up and place an order for some proofs. Then once I feel those are up to my standard, I will set a release date for that.

ARC Readers

I have the book sent out for potential ARC readers to help with reviews and promotion. If you are interested in becoming an ARC reader, let me know and I would be happy to talk details.

YA Gaming Novel

Last time I wrote to all of you I stated I was on draft #3 of this new YA novel. Well, I am still on draft #3, however, I have gone back and am now kind of on draft #3.5. As I was going through the last draft, I was loving the book, but something was off. The story felt like it was lacking a certain flair. I got into the action pretty quickly, but I wanted something that felt unsettling, something that gave the book a bit more life. As I was breaking it down yesterday, I realized what it was. I was missing some of the antagonists story along with a more steady anchor to the the real world. This is when I decided to pull from my own experience a bit more and dive a little more into the tech world.

As some of you know—and for those who don’t—I worked in the tech industry for over a decade. I also happened to graduate from a tech school twenty years ago this week. So, it’s safe to say I have a good handle on the culture and fandom surrounding technology and tech companies. I wanted to explore this and show some of the creepier and darker sides that are often hidden or overshadowed by the ping pong tables, unlimited snacks, and obsession with the tech CEOs.

Personally, the fun thing is that I get to air out some of my grievances while writing this part of the story. I also went down the rabbit hole last night of tech headquarters/campus of current and defunct companies. This itched the scratch I often have, watching videos of abandoned malls, hotels, and buildings. If you are interested in that type of thing, you should check out the old Sears' Headquarters. Truly wild!

Middle-Grade Series

I believe I have written about this one before, but I have been working on another middle-grade series that is an extension to The Curiosity Collection. If you read A Hairy Encounter, it revolves around Agent Abe and the department he works for and how they go about their business while training new recruits. I am still on draft #1 for this book. I am building out the world and trying to get some of the feelings and vibe down for this series. I’ll keep you all posted as I make progress.

Other Updates

I am still working on getting direct sales setup on my site. After messing around and going through some trial and errors, I am still researching some of the best places that sell through directly that also help handle sales tax from state to state. Hoping to have something on that soon.

What I am Reading/Watching/Listening

Novels 📚

Brady J. Sadler: The Acrid Sky

Show/Movie 🎥

We are currently re-watching Justified and Parks and Rec

Music 🎵

Haha! Pure Moods from 1994

It quickly takes me back to waking up the TV at 2am and hearing the commercial for it.

What Inspired Me

Thing 1

Severance (Obvious creepy tech/biotech company).

Thing 2

Boyd Crowder’s charisma in Justified. It’s like no other antagonist out there.

My Item of the Week

I’m currently obsessed with Classic Root Beer Olipop. Also, the Grape and Cream Soda versions are fantastic as well…if you like stevia (which I do).
